Monsters Vs. Aliens 2 canceled!

Monsters Vs. Aliens did some good business internationally but did not quite set the cash registers ringing the way Pixar's films do in the domestic market. As a result Dreamworks Studio executive Jeffey Katzenberg has altogether ditched the idea of producing a sequel.

while speaking on a conference call with various analysts, who asked him why there’d be no more B.O.B or big tall Susan, Katzenberg replied: 'I’d like to tell you there’s a perfectly rational, clear and easy answer as to why not, but there isn’t. There was enough of a consensus from our distribution and marketing folks in certain parts of the world that we would be pushing a boulder up a hill.'

Quite a bummer, especially since i quite enjoyed Monsters vs Aliens. It was most definitely the third best animated movie of 2009, next to 'Cloudy with a chance of meatballs' and Pixar's 'Up'. While it may not have been as enjoyable in 2D, in 3D MVA was unbelievably delicious to look at. And B.O.B was funny as hell. And Susan was every man's dream girl. Oh well.
