The fifth installment of the mega successful Alien franchise might just be very entertaining, because Ridley scott, who directed the original 1979 film is on board to helm the fourth sequel.
Although not much is known about the plot of the film, it has been announced that Alien 5 will in fact be a prequel to the original film. Rumourmill had suggested that the film will involve the race of creatures from which hails the original film’s nightmarish Alien abaord the Ripley's space ship.
Ridley Scott did reveal details about the timeline of the new film, 'The prequel will be a while ago. It’s very difficult to put a year on Alien, but [for example] if Alien was towards the end of this century, then the prequel story will take place thirty years prior.' he said to Empire magazine. Scott had earlier (in 2002 actually) insinuated that Alien 5 will tell the story of “where the alien creatures were first found and explain how they were created.” However that goes out the window now as Scott stated that Alien 5 will in fact be set 30 years prior to the first film.
So that means just one thing - the 'space jockey' will come into play. 30 years is a long time for a body to decompose aboard a ship, will we see the space jockey being created by Weyland-Yutani, the mysterious company somehow responsible for the whole thing?
