Star Trek Deleted Scene features more footage of Nero

October 29, 2009

Star Trek was my favourite sci fi flick on 2009, miles ahead of the misbegotten Terminator Salvation and even the robot orgy Transformers: Revenge of the fallen. While Star Trek was amazingly fun, the one thing that bummed us out was Nero's underplaying role.

No fear, because director JJ Abrams improves on just that in the DVD release of the film. Abrams had shot a scene featuring the Llingons, a few members of the infamous Trek alien race. The scene shows Nero chained to a table being roughed up and interrogated by masked creatures with Centurion slugs, attempting to get some info on the future.

According to Abrams, this scene was shot to convey where Nero had been hiding all those years and what he was up to. The best part about the scene is that it features the snazzy line from the trailer, which was absent from the theatrical release: “The wait is over!”
