More juice from Scorcece's 'Shutter Island' arrives

October 28, 2009

Remember the Martin Scorcese directed Leonardo DiCaprio starrer 'Shutter Island'? Of course you do, you tore your hair out when you heard the release date's been delayed.

No fear, we have some new juice for you, this time with more pulp.

Though this one opens similar to the old trailer, it begins to provide new footage about halfway through. It doesn't reveal any spoilers, but it does reveal Martin Scorcece's impeccable craftsmanship and his attention to lurid detail. In the hands of any other small time director Shutter Island would have been another cheesy B-movie, but this looks so promising. Why did Paramount have to delay the film? Is is because it sucked, and needed reshoots? The film was expected to relase on October 23rd, but has now been pushed back to February.

Shutter Island stars Leonardo Dicaprio along with Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, Michelle Williams, Patricia Clarkson, Max Von Sydow, John Carroll Lynch, Emily Mortimer, Elias Koteas, Jackie Earle Haley. The film is based on Dennis Lehane's 2004 novel of the same name. In the movie Ruffalo plays U.S. Marshal Chuck Aule, who travels with his new partner (DiCaprio) to the eponymous Massachusetts island in 1954. As they investigate the disappearance of a patient from a hospital for the criminally insane, they encounter a web of lies, a hurricane and a deadly inmate riot that leaves them trapped on the island.
